A Historic Milestone for Riam Hill International School
On 4 October 2026, Riam Hill International School marked a significant milestone with the Officiation of the Laying of Foundation Stone for its new campus at Lot 4201, Block 6, Kuala Baram Land District.
The ceremony was officiated by Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Minister for Transport Sarawak, representing YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak.
In his speech, read by Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, the Premier described the project as more than the construction of a new school, but an investment in the next generation as Sarawak advances towards a more diversified, knowledge-based and technology-driven economy.
“Beyond the bricks, concrete and facilities that will eventually form this campus, what we are really laying today is a foundation for the future of our young people.”
The new Riam Hill campus will add another dimension to Miri’s education landscape, providing families with greater access to international education. The Premier also welcomed the school’s community-based, non-profit model, highlighting its potential to make international education more affordable and accessible.
He emphasised the importance of nurturing young people with technological literacy, critical thinking, creativity and adaptability, while developing students who are confident and globally minded yet remain connected to Sarawak.
“We want our young people to be global in outlook, but Sarawakian in spirit.”
The Premier added that the true measure of the project would be the generations of students who pass through its doors and eventually contribute to Sarawak and beyond.
“We are not simply building for today. We are building for the generations that will come after us.”
Also present at the ceremony were Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts; Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development I (Education and Innovation); and Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, alongside distinguished guests, school representatives, teachers and students.
This meaningful occasion marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Riam Hill International School — building not only a new campus, but a foundation for generations to come.
Forever Forward.
